Purdue大学的Anand Iyer教授关于学术研究的实际情景的说法:
While the publication of a paper depends on proper matching between the contribution and the target journal, it all starts with an effective generalizable contribution to research. In this talk I will offer my perspective on applied problem contexts, their impact on model development and analysis, then use of the model to generate insights and then on to paper writing and publication. I will illustrate my approach using several examples from retailing, apparel manufacturing, spare parts supply chains and demand management. In each of these contexts, the models were inspired by practice but provided their own unique research contributions.
The goal of this talk is to suggest how careful study of applied contexts can serve as a fruitful context for effective research that yields analyzable mathematical models and useful managerial insights.
