Demand Planning is planning demand, and currently, in China, although many people study purchasing, or logistic, ver few people are actually studying on demand and inventory planning. In the states, it is also an area that is important, but often neglected. Because the planning horizaon is huge, and invest lots of time on it. Usually big companies, can't afford to have a massive planning due to the size, small companies feel no need to plan. Nevertheless, demand planning actually triggers into the whole supply chain, and it needs to look at the live data from market, which also requires advances data warehouse to support and a state art of ERP system. Oh well, we can definitelly talk about this more. I am working in Demand Planning and Inventory Planning for an American company in Shanghai. Please feel free to follow up the discussions. |
