How to be a successful DBA?

Well, I think as a good DBA, the ability to work under presure is very important. It doesn't mean you db will crash every day, but you should be prepared for that. How could we handle so much presure? Think about when the phone is ringing, people around you keep talking. at that moment, you can't simply say, "give me a break" because yuo still have problems to fix. And the bad thing is -- that's what you machine says, "give me a break".

个人感觉dba可以分为2种，一种参与开发的，对系统的结构流程很了解，
参与程序框架设计，毕竟一个好的设计比花大量时间tuning的效率要高的太多了
同时指导开发人员开发高效的sql
另一种侧重于维护，backup and recover,数据存储，raid,之类的
估计要做一个牛dba,也得是develop+unix+数据存储，简直就是一个teamleader!!!

广种薄收不如专精一门——识人用人之道，一切可以outsourcing ……

I love Oracle.
I had three year when used Oracle ,but I don't realy understood it.
I very love Oracle . I hope I is a DBA.
