Once I asked an Oracle consultant, Among those using Data Guard, are there more people using Data Guard Broker or more just using Sqlplus? He said more are using Data Guard Broker. I'm not sure how true it is.

没有broker，EM只能通过自定义的event监控dataguard中的数据库，不能够管理和创建dataguard，我是这样理解的；我记得我在测试GC的时候，在metalink上看到一篇note明确的写了Grid control和broker的关系，但是我找了半天，找不到了，不过broker的concept也写了这个内容，只不过比较隐晦

当然我也开了一个SR给oracle，问这个问题，但是印度人一直没有回复我。。。

印度人回复我的SR了，要想管理Dataguard，必须开启dataguard broker。 当然我们这边是GC 11.1.0.1

Thanks for that info. Is there an official document to support that statement? The link you gave in msg #23 is good. But it's not clear whether it supports that statement.

We do have Enterprise Manager (or Cloud Control). We never use it to create or even manage Data Guard. So we never bother to check if EM can manage it. We only use it to monitor. In addition, I wrote two scripts to monitor our Data Guard, since I trust my own scripts better.

Oracle Data Guard Broker and Static Service Registration (Doc ID 1387859.1)

Enterprise Manager can be used to manage Data Guard configurations and the use of the Broker is required for any Data Guard configuration managed by Enterprise Manger.

还有一篇NOTE里面提到 类似 ”EM通过broker管理DG“这样的话，我肯定看过，但是实在找不到了~

多谢分享，你提供的脚本我看了一下，主要是检测主库备库的的状态是否正常，我是实现想当主库不能正常访问时，备库自动切换为主库，不影响应用程序的正常使用，不知版主有什么高见？

说句实话，我怎么发现oracle提供的dg怎么有点像鸡肋，不怎么好用，弃之也有点可惜。
