Quite busy this week, mirror is a good method to migrate the data from one PV to another PV, but for the regular mirror function, you may take a little bit risk, after you breake the mirror, the source drive's data will be gone. So you can't go back.
Another issus is the mirror from small pv to large pv, for instance, you have an 8 G pv, your MAX PPs per PV: 1016, you PP size is 8M, this config is ok for the 8G pv, but while you mirror to a 18G drive, you may not use more spare space on your 18G pv, since your MAX PPS per PV is 1016 and your PP size is 8M, you can't put more PP on your new 18G PV, you may ether change the PP size or change the MAX PPS per PV, but I remember AIX can't do it, only you can do that is to recreate VG to change those parameters.
Mirror system disk is another story, Larry's doc has a very good explanation.
So mirror or pvmigrate or...?HACMP has a better solution than those general LVM command. |
