Job Responsibilities:  
• Work in cooperation with the US Analysis and Development team to prepare logical and physical design documents. These specifications will detail the operation of software intended to extract, transfer and load information from various data sources into the data warehouse.
• Based on the detailed specifications, develop Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) programs (AbInitio, Informatica, Teradata SQL, Perl/shell script) to populate the warehouse from various source systems. Tune the programs and queries to optimize data load times, ensure data accuracy, error handling and escalation.
• Work with the local development and QA group to document and execute Test plans.  
• Report weekly on progress and deliverables against plan.
• Write the support documentation, assist the production handover and deployment the new applications to production.  
• Provide leadership, coaching and technical support to junior developers in the group

Job Requirements:  
• Demonstrate effective communication written and verbal English skills.  
• Also demonstrate excellent organization skills.
• Possess a BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent  
• 5+ years implementing a large-scale data warehouse system (preferably Oracle and Teradata DBMS)
• Strong SQL skills (Oracle, Teradata) and good knowledge of UNIX and Perl.  
• Good understanding of data warehousing concepts including dimensional modeling (star/snowflake), Extraction/Transport/Loading best practices.

Job Description:

The Senior Data Architect, Data Warehouse will be a key technology leader on the Data Warehouse Architecture team. Initial focus will be on core Data Architecture and Data Modeling technologies, methods, and standards working directly with internal and external Marketplaces groups. This position requires strong functional and technical skills particularly in the areas of: very large scale data transformation applications tools and methodologies, Teradata / MPP platforms, data warehousing and enterprise systems and data integration.  

This position reports to the Senior Manager, IMD Architecture. The candidate will have to bring a strategic mind, detail orientation, and can-do attitude to the following responsibilities: Design, develop, and maintain custom Data Models. Design and develop utilities to enable the Data Warehouse product development organization with Data Modeling, data movement, and complex data access requirements. Prepare technical design documentation for review. Act as a deep technical resource to development, architecture, and operations organizations in MPP Relational Databases and surrounding technologies. Review logical data models in collaboration with the Data Architecture and Business Analysis teams. Prepare technical project plans with estimates for project duration, resource load and cost and regularly track progress against these plans. Define, Advocate, and Document technical architecture, infrastructure interface agreements, and methods. Work at all levels of the business and technology organizations to recognize market conditions, understand our business objectives, and establish a clearly communicated line of sight to achieve those goals. Become an expert in Information Management design/architecture in order to understand upstream and downstream impacts to the user information used for all business purposes and how best to leverage all our information assets Collaborate closely with other application, data, and infrastructure architects on various teams, particularly the Information Management & Delivery Architecture & Operations Proactively identify opportunities to implement process improvements Participate in the on-call rotation and when necessary, respond to business critical needs which may potentially be after business hours  

Job requirements:

8+ years hands on experience with VLDB MPP Data Warehouse systems in a development, performance, management and/or design capacity.
Very proficient in Erwin or Embarcadero.  
5+ years of direct Teradata experience preferred.
Proficient at parallel manipulation of very large data sets.
Excellent, proven written and verbal communication skills required.
Excellent analytical and data analysis skills and experience.
Previous Experience with Data Modeling of very large data in systems and databases desired.
Previous Experience with end to end Data Warehouse design highly desirable (Data Modeling to ETL to Data Design to BI).
Previous experience with C programming very desirable.
