和 backup 一回事，nologging 之后，backup也失效了…… [/B]

失效的只是做了nologging处理的那部分数据..

这是他自己选择的, 应该知道这样的结果^_^

I have been using DataGuard in Production since 8.1.7.4. It is pretty good. My production db size is 2 Terabytes -- not really big. Logs are shipping between two data centers. Force-logging is turned on at db level. The performance penalty is unnoticible.

The performance impact is unnoticible. This financial investment application is not a pure OLTP database. It is kind of a mix of OLTP and Reporting. DataGuard proctection level is "MAXIMUM PERFORMANCE". Primary database generates 70~80GB archive logs per day on average.

There is a very fast network Pipeline (two dedicated fiber channels) linked between two data centers. I am not quite sure how fast the network speed can go. The bandwidth is shared with other banking systems.

Like I said as the above,  DataGuard has quite a few advantages over Remote Disk Mirroring. I believe physical standby database is still the mainstream in Oracle community.  Hardware solution is much more costly than DG.

For example, my database is 2 Terabytes. With DG, I just need a standby database siting in a remote server.  Primary + Standby = 4 Terabytes.

With IBM ESS (Shark): PPRC between Priamry and the second db copy , Flashcopy from the 2nd and 3rd copy.  Total disk storage = 2T * 3 = 6 Terabytes. Hitachi Universal replicator also requires at least 3 copies including Primary.

DG is normally preferred over HW from both cost and performance perspective.
