Sometimes I think supply chain management is not to reduce cost, but to increase profit for your company. If a huge inventory is make sense from business operation point of view, why can't we build up the inventory?

呵呵，可不一定哦，假如两家公司都是作石油生意的：
A公司：由于预测很不准确，结果导致大量的石油库存，误差超过2000万桶，导致囤积了2000万桶，当初采购进货的时候是19-25美元每桶。
B公司：预测忒准确，进货基本刚好满足客户需求，库存大大减低啊，领导相当满意。

结果到了年度财务核算：
B公司：发现之赚了那么点点钱。
A公司：发现赚的钱好像比A公司小那么点点，但是发现自己囤积了好多好多的石油啊，现在油价是70美元每桶，如果促销销售的话，大大的发了阿。领导感叹，预测不准真是好啊！发达了！！

B公司得知A公司的情况后，老板直呼：还TMD预测呢,这年头，连JIT都过时了哦 [/B]

Yes, I'm interested in supply chain , such as demand planning, inventory planning, replenishment planning, order optimizition, advanced planning & scheduling, etc.
