About 10G R2 new features

今天去OTN看了一下，又有更新。侧重点是管理方面
1. 管理ASM的命令行工具asmcmd

评论: 应该比较实用, 这样srvctl 的负担就降低了不少，呵呵;

2.  Drop empty data files
alter tablespace users drop datafile 'xxx'

评论: 也比较实用

3.  Direct SGA Access for Hung/Slow Systems

评价: 这个绝对是个好特性。如果使用EM, 在"性能"页面
就能看到变化，叫做SGA  ATTACH.

4.  Redefine a Partition Online  
评价: 这个也很好。

又是那个写TOP 20 Features for 10G R1的人写的(Arup Nanda) ,
看模样长得很像印度人,   国内的高手要加油哦.

R2 最主要的新特性就是增强了安全性。从CONNECT角色所
拥有的权限的变化，就可以看出R2的主要方向。

当然, bug修复也是必不可少的.

说到下载，可能还要过几天。我看到有人去metalink
找下载，没有必要的，OTN肯定会有的. [/B]

个人感觉倒是对partition支持力度大了很多，这个比较适合超大型应用。

Oracle is a commercial company, they have the presssure from share market.

And sometimes when you release software, you can't wait for all the bug fixes. You have to release it by certain date.

And I read in the Oracle-L email list, some people mentioned they only ungrade to last desupport version.  for example, Oracle probably will announce the end of support for 9i soon since 10gR2 is out, then they upgrade to that final 9iR2 version.
