There are 2 basic steps mentioned above:  
        1.  lowering the mapped_base in Linux
        2.  lowering the sga_base in Oracle

       * with 10gR2, the sga_base is set to 0x20000000 by default,
         so lowering the sga_base is usually not needed.
      ** since the sga_base is lowered by default in 10gR2, the
         mapped_base in SLES 9 needs to be lowered (or the sga_base
         needs to be raised) for proper operation
