I did these 4 years ago and also architect. Do it if you have time. It will make you feel better to deal with any dev project. This is a process to force you get clear with stuff you do not do unless you are working on a real project. In reality, it is simply just too late to start to learn if you do have a project.

SCJP has something like testingking. However sun changes its content frequently than all others. SCJD is an independent project, and a writing test. They will be read and verified at the same time. By the way, SCJD costs $400.
