Are you sure? v$parameter should have 'sga_target' no matter what you do.
MOS (My Oracle Support, i.e. http://support.oracle.com) requires a support contract. Some people purchase that by buying a very cheap product from Oracle. See "How to get Oracle Support the cheapest way"
