Hi Guys, Just realized that you are still arguing about this. I absolutly have no intension to get into this loop again. But feels like I need to say something.
Firstly, thanks to "innovate511", your points are clear, and I agree with you.
Secondly, Esestt, I think your point of view on ROI of DW is also right, after all, our clients or users need to know what they get after paying big dollars. But that does not mean DW is useless, everything is relative, depends on the situation. I think in the other post, you had questioned me on:
=========
For your case the bank using sybase, microsoft, oracle.........................................., will they have a long term plan to unified their infrastructure? If so, do they need DW any more when they do that?
===========
The thing is that DW is not only meant to unified their databases, more importantly it allows you to build a data model more efficiently to your analytical needs, the ROI will be there.
Well, I think we are all speaking from our own experience, and in our experience we probably see the things in different angle, so that is why we all comes with our own conclusion I guess?
But Esestt, one thing by now I think should be clear to you is that DW at least is still being used and will be used largely in our territory, because so many guys here had commented, right?
And I guess that is what you want to know, right?
Cheers,
