First Printing: July 2009
•Figure 9-25 graph shows the same as Figure 9-26. The real Figure 9-25 graph can be downloaded, here.
•Page 116, second bullet point labeled, CPU available states the power available is 240 seconds. The power available is actually 2400 seconds...math mistake.
•Page 127, Table 4-1, shows the blocks related to the wait events db file scattered read and db file sequential read switched. As the text states multiple times, scattered reads are multiblock read requests and sequential reads are single block requests.
•Page 349, A new table has been added for the second printing in the Selecting the Unit of Work section. The table lists possible workload metrics based on the bottleneck. You can download the new table here.
•Page 352 about a third of the way down the page and then again about half way down the page you see, "buffer gets". The correct statistic name is "db block gets". These are the CU (current) buffers read from the buffer cache.
•The concordance has been posted! Click here to get the pdf file. When you see the size, you'll understand why it was not included in the book's printing. Feel free to view on-line or download.
•Figure 6-40. The itl flag of C should be U.
•Page 183. The ASH enable/disable parameter is _ash_enable and it's either true or false.
