真是可惜了，我英文如此之差，不知道你都说了些啥。但是能感觉到你还是抱怨既然重要为啥没备份之类的，我在此打住，承认之前所描述的前后矛盾。如果你能解释一下坏块产生的其它原因，我想对大家更有帮助。建议你在metalink上查询一下这方面的文章，翻译过来岂不更好。

lz够倒霉的，磁盘损坏不是你的错，但是没有备份就是你的错误的，记住数据库早晚会坏的，就和出来混早晚要还的一样~
但是只要你做好的备份，你就尽到了责任。
PS: DS4000系列的存储的确有问题，你可以看看我的那些倒霉经历，DS4000出毛病已经见怪不怪了~
只要出毛病，保准“外焦里嫩”~

In China, to the most of company , the data is not important. Or by other word, before the database break down, no one be aware of the data is important. They always think DBA is just an administrator, not leader. So the most of DBAs is cheap. And in such terriable environment , most of china DBA is not professional.

Your statement may be a little exaggerating. Reputation of a DBA is not completely built on failure recovery, or heroism during crisis. In many cases, a DBA reveals his expertise and wins reputation during day-to-day work, helping developers or users, designing excellent data models, providing strategetic advice, etc. There're many cases you can help the company you work for.

I agree.
"PROCATIVE" DBA is higher level than "TROUBLE SHOOTING" DBA.
By far, I think I am just a "TROUBLE SHOOTING" DBA. You should be "PROCATIVE" DBA already .

In China, they do care what we are .. that 's the truth..
