EditPlus or UltraEdit...and then use Jbuilder....NetBeans.....and so on....
if you are a frensher, i think too complicant tool is not suitbale, I prefer EditPlus / UltraEdit, notpad is not showing program so well. EditPlus and UltraEdit can display different codes(perl, java, html and etc) with colored key words.
when I started my studying of java, I used the IBM websphere studio(now it was disappeared),too complicant to me!to a jounior. too many codes i can not read. So one of my colleague gave me UltraEdit/EditPlus, I love them too much.Later I met Jbuilder and Jcreator....feel better then.
I always feel that IDE is not suitable for a fresher, only my point :P
The enery should be used in sharp. Do not waste time and energy in IDE, Java technology is core
