Release 4.1.48.06 Production Patch
This document provides various installation and late-breaking product information for Oracle Discoverer Administration Edition and Oracle Discoverer Desktop Edition for Windows 95/98/2000/NT. This patch can be applied to Discoverer Administration Edition or Desktop Edition 4.1.37, which is shipped with Oracle9i Developer Suite 1.0.2.4, or higher versions.
Important
If applied to a release prior to 4.1.46, note that this patch version of Discoverer Administration Edition will perform an End User Layer upgrade. As a result, the version of Discoverer Desktop Edition shipped with this patch will only be able to connect to End User Layers that have been either upgraded or created with Discoverer Administrator 4.1.46 or higher. The corresponding 4.1.46 or higher patch versions of Oracle9iAS Discoverer Plus and Oracle9iAS Discoverer Viewer will only be able to connect to an End User Layer that has been either upgraded or created with version 4.1.46 or higher of Discoverer Administration Edition.
Optional
Create a back-up copy of the [ORACLE HOME]directory and all subdirectories. You may later revert to the pre-patch installation by restoring the back-up copy. The entire [ORACLE HOME] directory should be backed-up/restored - this ensures that updates to shared libraries (such as RSF files) and Oracle Installer inventory files are also reverted to their previous state.

1. Required version of Oracle9i Application Server for compatibility
The required version of Oracle9i Application Server for compatibility with this release is 1.0.2.2.
2. End User Layer upgrade
When applied to an EUL created with Discoverer Administration Edition versions 3.1, or any versions prior to 4.1.46, this version performs an upgrade to the End User Layer (EUL). When using Discoverer Administration Edition to connect to an existing EUL as the EUL owner, Discoverer will automatically detect whether an EUL upgrade is required. If an upgrade is required, you will be prompted to make a backup of the EUL tables. Upon confirmation that the backup has been made, the EUL upgrade is performed.
If applied to an End User Layer created with Discoverer Administration Edition versions prior to 4.1.44, after the End User Layer has been upgraded, it will not be possible to connect to the upgraded EUL using Discoverer Desktop Edition, Discoverer 4i Plus or Discoverer 4 i Viewer with a version prior to 4.1.44. Also, the versions of the end user products supplied with this patch cannot connect to EULs that have either not yet been upgraded or have been created with a version of Discoverer Administration Edition prior to 4.1.46.
If applied to an End User Layer created with Discoverer Administration Edition version 4.1.46, after the End User Layer has been upgraded, Discoverer Desktop Edition, Discoverer 4i Plus and Discoverer 4 i Viewer version 4.1.46 may still connect to the upgraded EUL.
NOTE: Upgrade/import/export of an EUL created using a third-party product, such as Noetix Views, is not supported. If problems are encountered with an EUL generated by a third-party product, contact the third-party vendor for support.
