You're absolutely right. I can tell you wrote this by yourself. But it would be better if you could at least list references pointing readers to the original article about YAPP.
YAPP, or the wait event tuning "movement", represents a revolutionary mentality change in Oracle performance tuning. The methodology or philosophy itself is extremely simple, nothing more than "You shall tune by wait events!" It's the understanding of and practical experience in numerous wait events that takes us time. Kind of ironically, most tuning issues still come down to SQL tuning, YAPP or not. So in most cases, even if you never heard of YAPP or this philosophy, you can still make your application run faster, because you focus on SQL tuning any way.
