对于网卡的绑定来说负载均衡的方式应该有多重，linux的话 是可以每块网卡都有流量，我觉得你应该先研究下aix上etherchannel的相关参数。

We only use Linux. At one time, we configured Linux network bonding in active/active mode but there was a problem (I can't remember what the problem was. Maybe not supported by our switch configuration) So we changed it back to active/passive. If you have experience in active/active bonding, pleae share your experience. Any tips? How is the switch configured to support it?

Bonding or EtherChannel, if the NICs can be configured to run in active/active mode, then you definitely can achieve higher bandwidth.

Beginning with 11gR2 (11.2.0.2 I think), you don't need to worry about it. Just use Oracle's HAIP.

Linux的bonding和AIX的EtherChannel都是在二层协议上实现的网卡汇聚，需要绑定的网卡只能连接同一台交换机，也就是不能跨交换机做绑定，而且要求交换机也要支持端口汇聚功能。因此active/active时，网卡只能连接1台交换机，交换机就成了单点。active/standby时可以连接2台交换机，但起作用的只能是一个网卡，另一个处于备用状态。 如果是EtherChannel，建议采用n+1的方式，即n个网卡做汇聚，1个做备用。这个n个网卡可以提高网络带宽，理论上是单个网卡的n倍。实际有没有这么大就要自己测试一下了。

我估计Yong Huang遇到的问题可能就是网卡汇聚不能跨交换机绑定。

I think you're right.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Link_aggregation discusses all the Linux bonding modes. We're using active-backup. Interestingly, according to the web page, balance-tlb or balance-alb is "Linux bonding driver mode that does not require any special network switch support". But we never tested it.

I'm sure there're programs written to do this test. But as a simple one, simultaneously runmultiple ping commands to the IP with a large packet size (ping -s <number> on Linux). Watch the increase of the numbers in ifconfig output, particularly the two slaves for the bonding interface.
