2G is a limitation on the entire process virtual memory on Windows. 1.7G is for the entire usable memory for oracle.exe, not just SGA.

如果是unix 上32位。。是不是也是這種1.7g---->entire usable memory for oracle?????

On 32-bit Linux, the memory usage is divided this way: 3 GB for user space, 1 GB for kernel space. So you can have close to 3 GB SGA and PGA. I don't know exactly how much. If it's still 300 MB reserved for miscellaneous OS overhead, then SGA plus PGA can be about 2.7 GB.

I'm not sure about UNIX (Solaris e.g.). Maybe the same.
