Oracle9i Database: Seminar Series for Oracle Server D16665GC10
Oracle9i Database: Seminar Series for Oracle Server
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What you will learn
This series of highly technical seminars where developed by Oracle University in cooperation with Oracle Worldwide Customer Support to provide the customer an advanced in-depth look into the Database Internals. This seminar series goes far beyond the level of the regular Oracle DBA classes and is designed for an experienced audience. Students learn to use events in diagnosing Oracle problems and to distinguish between hang, loop, and crash situations. In addition, students learn to dump Oracle blocks at the Operating System (binary dumps), to dump and interpret Oracle-formatted block dumps, and to recover from Oracle block corruptions. Students learn what to do with block corruptions occurring in rollback segments. Students will gain in-depth knowledge of the internal storage of Oracle9i data types that are used in defining database structures. The implementation and internal structure of large objects, collections, and user-defined data types will be discussed. Students will gain an understanding of the space allocation algorithms for free list and automatic space managed segments. The internal structures of the different segment types will be discussed, relating the components to the functioning of a transaction. With this understanding, the student will be better placed to perform realtime diagnostics, and be better versed in the internal implementation of Oracle's transaction processing. Attending this seminar series will result in a significant gain of insight about the internals of the Oracle server, minimizing support calls and problem resolution turnaround time. It is a must for each experienced Oracle database administrator (DBA).
